Movie theatre shuts down after blaze engulfs the building

Hollywood, Ga.

— A fire at a movie theatre in Georgia’s metro region shut down the facility Saturday night and forced the evacuation of about 300 people.

Fire officials said that when the fire broke out at the Hollywood Theatre on Georgia Avenue, it had no fire sprinklers.

A fire crew from the Georgia Department of Emergency Management responded to the scene.

The fire was quickly contained and extinguished.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that more than 150 people were evacuated from the area after smoke from the fire caused the closure of the theater.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
